MIAMI — Bam Adebayo racked up 23 points, nine rebounds, and six steals, guiding the Miami Heat to a 124-98 victory against the Brooklyn Nets in the opener of their two-game series.
Tyler Herro poured in 22 points, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 20 for Miami, which has now won five of its last seven outings.
Adebayo and Herro were tied for the team lead with 15 points apiece at halftime, while Jaquez and Andrew Wiggins were close behind with 13 each as the Heat built a 69-54 cushion. Miami shot 53% from the field in the first half and pulled away in the fourth quarter, ultimately leading by 27 points.
For Brooklyn, Noah Clowney scored 17, and Ziaire Williams added 16 with Nolan Traore chipping in 14. Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. had a night to forget, finishing 3-for-17 from the floor and missing all nine of his three-pointers, totaling just nine points.
Brooklyn had dropped nine in a row, continuing a frustrating stretch since their previous back-to-back wins nearly a month ago.
Wiggins, who didn’t score in the second half, logged only 11 minutes and attempted two shots.
