Wike's Strong Message: 'Nobody Can Push Us Out in Rivers' - Supporting Tinubu's Re-election (2026)

"No one can displace us in Rivers," asserts Wike to his supporters.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, firmly proclaimed that neither he nor his supporters would be swayed or pushed aside in their commitment to backing President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term in Rivers State.

This declaration was made during a visit on Saturday to express his gratitude to the residents of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, where he reminisced about the unwavering support from the people of Rivers who backed Tinubu's campaign in 2023 despite numerous challenges.

Wike emphasized that as the benefits of their support begin to manifest, he will not permit anyone to swoop in at the last minute and claim credit for the achievements. "In 2023, we spearheaded the movement here. We were integral to the Renewed Hope Agenda right from the outset, which is when we chose to endorse Tinubu.

"Now, those who were absent during that crucial time—who supported Atiku Abubakar and failed to even secure 10 percent of the votes—are suddenly appearing and claiming they want to lead the Renewed Hope Agenda. Is that even feasible?

"You weren’t part of the initial efforts. You didn’t help gather the resources; you didn’t contribute to the foundation. Now that everything is set, you expect to step in and take the first bite? Is that reasonable? No one in this state can displace us," he declared.

Addressing the actions of detractors, Wike encouraged his followers to remain courageous and united, directing their energies towards ensuring Tinubu’s re-election. "These individuals are merely the foot soldiers of the Renewed Hope Family. If there is one place where the President knows he can rest easy, it’s in Rivers," he affirmed.

He elaborated that this visit was not just a formality but a genuine expression of gratitude for the support shown in 2023, while also urging the community to continue their collaborative efforts, assuring them that 2026 would surpass 2025 in achievements.

Earlier in the gathering, Sir Allwell Ihunda, Mayor of Port Harcourt, praised Tinubu for facilitating the existence of democratically elected council chairmen in Rivers. He also recognized Wike’s impactful eight-year tenure as governor, highlighting several projects that significantly enhanced the quality of life for the people.

"We are prepared to follow your guidance for the upcoming 2027 elections. Once we receive your directives, we will spring into action," he stated.

Additionally, Mrs. Blessing Amadi, representing Port II Federal Constituency, lauded the minister for amplifying women's voices in governance by appointing female vice chairpersons in all local government areas within the state. "This is the only state in the nation that has granted women such prominent recognition, and we commend you for it," she remarked.

Mr. Smart Adoki, also representing Port Harcourt II in the State Assembly, expressed gratitude to Wike for his bold decision to back Tinubu in 2023, noting that the citizens of Rivers are now reaping the rewards of that choice. Adoki pledged his unwavering support to Wike, emphasizing that he has even more to offer the community.
